What It Actually Looks Like to Make An Offer That Gets People to Direct-Message You

I remember how shocked I was at the response I got the first time I posted a direct offer post on my timeline.

I had never tried doing that before. And none of my mentors had taught me to do it or suggested I do it. So it was just a test, a shot in the dark.

It was a framework that I came up with completely on my own, that made intuitive sense to me.

At the end, I invited people to DM me but I really didn’t know if anybody would.

They did.

Oh, indeed they did.

I was deluged with messages, like around 20 the very first day.

And, after repeating and refining the process many times and writing many more posts with a similar structure, I’ve continued getting an average of 3-7 messages per week ever since – nearly 3 years later.

What was really striking was the comments that some folks made when they DM’ed me.

Like, “I’ve been watching your content for so long. I was hoping you’d come out with an offer.”

And, “This is exactly what I’ve been needing for months! I had no idea you offered this!”

And, “I never knew what type of support you offered before, thanks for making an offer finally!”

I was dumbfounded because I thought I WAS making an offer previously.

I was writing good content and doing great videos, and ending each one with, “If you’d like help solving the issue I talked about today, let’s get on a call. Here’s my booking link.”

But it turns out that that’s NOT AN OFFER. 😉

People have no idea how vague that sounds when they say/write it.

I certainly didn’t.

Now, I’d go so far as to call that kind of a statement “noise.”

Because, obviously, no one paid much attention to it (I’d only ever get a handful of call bookings per month, if that).

But when I made a post about a 4-week program to work on A, B, and C topics all aimed at getting X outcome for Z type of person?

Deluged with DMs within hours.

If you’re exhausted from doing tons of content marketing and only getting a handful of calls each month and very few sales, I would ask you:

Do you have an extremely specific offer?

(which means a clear ideal client, clear Point A they need to be starting from, clear Point B/outcome you’ll be working on, clear steps or non-stepwise shifts to getting there, clear description of what type of person they need to be to get the results, and clear length of time it’ll take to complete the work)

{and yep, you can have such an offer even if you don’t sell to businesses/entrepreneurs or have a “money-making” outcome}

Are you writing and posting a 500-word (or less) pitch for it 2-4 times per month, including all the distinctions mentioned above in a really concise way?

Is ALL of your other content reverse-engineered from that offer?

(which means it speaks to the same ideal client the offer is for, talks about the same kinds of steps/shifts that your offer uses, and contextualizes them within the Point A and Point B of your offer)

Does 90% of your content mention the offer?

(this does NOT mean saying “let’s get on a call if you want help with what I talked about in this post,” but actually mentioning the OFFER itself with all the key details listed above)

Are you inviting people to DM you directly rather than requiring them to formally book a call as the very first step in connecting with you?

(that part is crucial)

Are you adding new people to your network daily?

I’ve found that for 100% of people struggling with getting results ($20K-$50K+ months) from their social media marketing efforts, they’re NOT able to answer “yes” to some, most or all of those questions.

These tweaks are so simple. But most of us aren’t doing them.

We don’t realize how unclear we’re being.

It took me 7 years to wake up to how to ACTUALLY do content marketing. 😉

I hope that my freely-given trade “secrets” will massively shortcut your journey.

As always, let me know (DM me on FB) if you’re not getting 4-8 clients per month from applying these insights to your posts.

I’d be happy to work with you in my 1:1 private 30-day intensive to examine what you’re doing and see what tweaks you can make in how you’re applying my approach. <3

I’m also offering the chance to become certified to teach my methods to your own clients. DM me on FB as well if you’re interested in that.
