To Keep People’s Attention, Share Your Process for Getting Results

Spent a goodly amount of time this morning unsubscribing from email lists.

Now that I’ve cracked the code on organic high ticket selling, it’s so obvious to me why almost no one can keep my interest through their content:

They don’t share their process for getting results. (a.k.a., the HOW)

Here’s an example of one email from a list I unsubscribed from… it could be summarized thusly (taking hundreds of words to say all this):

“On a call with my clients last week we were celebrating someone who made $20K in just one week! She was able to do that because she said ‘yes’ to herself by enrolling in my program. Investing in support is how you grow your business. Here are some other results of clients in this program: [list] What I do is obviously life-changing. I’m looking for a few more people to join this program. Hit ‘reply’ to this email if you’re interested and I’ll share more details.”

What a snoozer!

It would actually be so easy to make something like that up.

I’m not saying the email writer was definitely making it up – just making a point of why it didn’t catch my attention. You see so many messages out there like this.

At no point did she share any of the mechanics of HOW her client achieved a $20K week (or what that client was earning before working with her). Consequently, I don’t know if she teaches a process that I’ve already heard/learned, or if there might be something new that I’d get from working with her.

(And I’ve personally already had quite a few $20K weeks, so I’d be very interested to know if what she teaches could get me higher than that. Unfortunately, not knowing the mechanics, I have no idea. She also didn’t make clear what kinds of results were typical with her system, or what the highest/record results were. And I don’t really wanna reach out for a lengthy convo with her JUST to get all of this information.)

Another person who lost me as a subscriber (paraphrased and summarized):

“I am just so darn excited for the week I’m having! I mapped out a marketing strategy for one client! Heard from another that she had a $10K month. And just loving that I can do all of this from home and that I quit my soul-sucking job. I am just so excited about what we do here! If you want my help too, click below for a discovery call!”

I’m glad she’s excited, but there’s no value for me there.

She gave no details on what kinds of marketing strategies she “maps out” or how well they work. Nor did she share any process for hitting a $10K month.

I’m not writing this post to complain.

I’m writing it to point out that if you’re doing your content this way you’re actually creating huge problems for yourself.

You’re missing out on leads.

(As I noted with the first email, that person didn’t get me as a lead because she didn’t share enough about her process to pique my interest. And it seemed like it would take a lot of time and energy to get the information.)

You’re making it really hard to enroll the few leads that you do get.

(They’re going to have tons of objections/questions about what your process is, how it works, will it work for someone like them – basically all the things that you didn’t explain in your content.)

You’re definitely not going to be able to easily enroll people for high-ticket programs after a few exchanges back-and-forth over Messenger and no phone call.

You’re not going to have enough demand to be comfortable raising prices significantly.

Scaling (if you’re into that) will seem like a far-off distant dream that might not happen in this lifetime.

So please…

Start sharing your “how” in depth and detail and all of these annoying, business-killing problems will start to turn around more quickly than you can imagine.

Almost no one is doing their content this way, so you will stand out like a shining beacon of light.

I’ll give you some great examples of what it looks like to actually share your “how” in a way that’s clear (and maybe, in the process, get you interested in working with me ;)).

Here’s one: I help people to raise their prices and get themselves and others on board with the new price. But, in my marketing, you will see me saying far more than just that sentence. There’s actually a lot of detail behind the process of raising your price.

I wrote a post here that gives some of that detail so you can see my thought process. Check it out.

I also wrote another post here addressing pricing from a different angle. (See, there’s a lot that goes into it!) Check that one out too.

Here’s another: I teach a particular way of handling your sales conversations (and the marketing leading up to them) so you don’t turn off the most empowered prospects. Check out this post for more detail behind that.

And really, just check out all of my posts because almost every single one goes into some detail about my “how” and gives real value that actually allows you to envision how you could get results if we worked together (or even if we didn’t!).

Many have even told me that they made some money from what I shared in my content and then wanted to hire me so they could learn the methods even better, straight from the creator, and achieve real mastery.

There are lots of fears around sharing your “how.” But once I started doing it, I found that there was no real downside (other than cringeworthy plagiarizers stealing my content and obviously not getting the results that I do from it, so no problem as karma’ll get ’em) and my business actually exploded and scaled to multiple-multiple six figures with so much ease.

Let me know (via Facebook DM) if you want help with raising your prices, writing content that gets plenty of leads, and selling your high-ticket programs over Messenger so you can scale to $20K-$50K+ months.

And, if you don’t, no problem. Please still enjoy my content and put it to good use. 🙂
