One of the keys to writing posts that consistently bring in leads is that you can’t be trying to get leads from them. π
Paradoxical but true.
Every single one of my posts has been something that I felt absolutely compelled to write in that moment, simply because it was inside me and I wanted to bring it out.
In other words, an idea came to me and I knew it was such an important and powerful idea that people needed to know about it.
(Just like this post – I actually wasn’t planning on writing a post today, but the idea popped into my head and I knew it was best to grab it and run with it. So I rearranged other things I was planning on doing today – expressing important ideas always gets top priority!)
Many have asked if I pre-write or pre-schedule content. No – never. It’s always what’s on my mind at that very moment – whether it’s 3 a.m., noon, or 6 p.m. And whether or not it’s a day or time that I was planning on working.
Sharing simply because you want to share and love sharing is the best reason to share. π And makes for the most magnetic posts.
(Not a lot of people know this, but I actually wrote content about marketing and messaging for years and didn’t get many clients from it, because I was missing a few distinctions about how to write to get clients, and also didn’t have an audience-growth strategy. But I kept doing it because it was so much fun to share and because I couldn’t not. It always felt worth it to me. Though it would’ve been nice to have some more clients and money π )
If you’re writing because “ugggh I have to think of something to write today to fulfill my ‘one post a day’ requirement so I can get enough leads and clients” – readers will feel that.
I don’t know about you, but I’m darn excited about the things I’ve figured out about how to have success in business.
It took me forever to figure out how to get clients sustainably, and without doing things that felt awful to me and my personality, like holding long sales calls, paying through the nose for advertising and writing in formulaic, stilted ways.
Most people in our industry (like, 95%) never figure that out.
So, for a certain group of people (my people!) I hold the keys to the kingdom.
It’s fun to share them.
When you’ve been given an amazing gift you want to share it with others so they can have as amazing a life as you do.
Many of you reading this hold the “keys to the kingdom” for some other problem in life or business.
When you show up with such excitement to share those keys with people, that’s when attracting and enrolling clients will start to feel effortless.
It’ll almost feel like a surprise – like you didn’t really intend to get clients, but they’re coming your way anyway.
Even though I’ve enrolled over 200 clients in this effortless way, it still feels like a bit of a surprise (and mini-miracle) each time I get a new person in my inbox ready to sign up.
It’s like “oh, hi. I was really just having fun there and you’re asking to join me in my fun. Well, all right then” π
This is the outcome that we aim for you to get when you work with me in my 30-day intensive.
We look at how you most naturally want to express yourself regarding your offer and the things that you’ve solved and are an expert in.
And we put just a little bit of containment around it – clarifying some explanations here and there, adding a sentence or two to link your offer up to the topic you wrote about.
Some people (who haven’t worked with me π ) have incorrectly described my posting method as formulaic or constricting. Nothing could be further from the truth.
When you use the Strong Methodβ’ (my method), you’re not using a script or talking the way I tell you to talk. You’re being who you naturally are, and adding a clarification or two.
Maybe just changing the order of your first few sentences so that the most compelling idea comes first.
Sometimes you’re also chunking down your topics so they’re more digestible and understandable in separate posts.
I provide the smallest of tweaks so that what you’re expressing becomes a bit more understandable to the people you want to attract.
I think it’s similar to how a master dance or gymnastics teacher might adjust the angle of their student’s arm by about 2 degrees – imperceptible to most observers, but making all the difference to whether or not they successfully execute the move or fall flat on their face. π
